For more than a century, the Ohio University College of Education has been on the cutting edge of progress being made for the future of educational studies and educational leadership. Whether you desire to be a teacher, counselor, or institutional administrator, the College of Education has the opportunities and resources in place to enhance your educational experience and broaden your career path.

Organized into three departments, the college offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Counseling and Higher Education, Educational Studies, and Teacher Education. These programs lead to careers in teaching, counseling, public school administration, and higher education administration. The college has more than 70 full-time faculty members with diverse backgrounds in research and academic training as well as varied involvement with schools and community agencies. The faculty serves more than 2,000 students while maintaining a broad interest in programs and projects that impact education nationally and internationally.

Degree
Completion of degree requirements in the College of Education leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.). Masters and doctoral programs are available in various areas of Counseling and Higher Education, Education Studies, and Teacher Education.

Accreditation
The College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Ohio State Department of Education.

Special Programs and Opportunities
Teacher training programs are available in early childhood, middle childhood, adolescent to young adult, multi-age, and intervention specialist. These programs combine practical classroom experiences with courses in education and learning theory. Students also complete intensive preparation in their chosen field. The college features partnerships with local schools, as well as opportunities for international study with the Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching (COST).

With the recent changes in teacher education requirements by the Ohio Department of Education, transfer students are strongly advised to contact the College of Education Office of Student Services for advice before finalizing their decision to transfer.
