The Russ College of Engineering and Technology offers programs with strong reputations for quality education. Housed in the Stocker Engineering and Technology Center, the college gives students access to modern laboratories and equipment. Endowments totaling more than $40 million provide for visiting professors, scholarships, and advanced research equipment.
Degrees
The college offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees through eight departments: Aviation, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Industrial Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. Masters and doctoral level programs of study are available in select areas.
Freshman Admission Requirements
Freshman admission to the computer science and engineering programs is selective and requires four years of high school mathematics and one unit each of physics and chemistry.
Transfer Admission Requirements
Transfer students should complete certain science and math courses for direct admission to their major. Interested transfer students are advised to contact the college for detailed information regarding how their current course work may count toward degree requirements.
Accreditation
The Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology accredits Ohio University's engineering programs. The Computer Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology accredits the computer science program. The National Association of Industrial Technology accredits the industrial technology program. There is no accreditation agency available for the aviation program.
Special Programs and Opportunities
Cooperative education opportunities also exist for students wanting to combine classroom work with real world experience. All cooperative education positions allow you to earn money for financing your education.
