Through the Ohio Valley International Council and the College of Education's Institute for Democracy and Education, the Institute for the African Child offers programs for the K-12 teaching community, seeking ways to incorporate information about African children into the American curriculum. Summer workshops, graduate courses, outreach to schools with cultural consultants, and weekend conferences are all activities that have been sponsored by the Institute and are planned for the future.

The Institute for the African Child also sponsors a publication series on African child issues and an annual report on trends in the field.
