Martin T. Tuck, Ph.D.
Marty hails from Madison Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville. He majored in Chemistry and Biology at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978. In 1982, he received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis, Tennessee. Marty then completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cancer Research at the Fels Research Institute on the campus of Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Marty began his academic career at Ohio University in 1986 as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Over the years, his research interests have focused on understanding the molecular basis of cancer formation. The American Cancer Society has funded his research, and during his career he has authored over 25 research publications.
After promotion to Associate Professor in 1992, Marty has served as the chair of the graduate program in Molecular and Cellular Biology for eight years and as an officer in the Ohio University Faculty Senate. He joined the Office of the Provost as the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs in 2004.
Marty is married with two children and in his spare time enjoys golf, racquetball and, in the summer, discovering innovative ways to barbeque just about anything.
