We feel that displaying their post-graduation achievements highlights the lasting impact of the Manasseh Cutler Scholars Program and provides a means by which current Cutler Scholars may form projections of their own lives after Ohio University.

2005-06 Lizabeth and Charles R. Emrick, Jr.-Cutler Scholar

A student in the Honors Tutorial College, Gina is pursuing a double major in magazine journalism and publication design. She has served as the design director and publisher of Backdrop Magazine, Ohio University’s newest student-run publication, and has written and designed for The Post. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshmen Honors Society, and has been on the Dean’s List numerous times.

Gina traveled to Leipzig, Germany, to study at the Ohio-Leipzig European Center, and maintained a website and blog during her stay documenting her travels throughout Europe. Other summer experiences included an internship at the Ohio Newspaper Association in Columbus, a volunteer experience at an orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania, and two weeks kayaking and hiking in Alaska.

Dustin J. Fisher

A presidential scholar who has made the Dean’s List every quarter, Dustin is working toward a major in civil engineering. An inductee into Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society and Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society, he serves as the treasurer of the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a student ambassador for the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. Dustin is a member of the ASCE Steel Bridge Team, OU Snowcats Ski and Board Club, and the OU Waterski Team.

For his summer experiences, Dustin studied energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies while traveling throughout Australia, worked as a field engineer for the Interstate 70 and Interstate 75 interchange for Kokosing Construction Company in Dayton, helped construct and maintain the Appalachian Trail with the Green Mountain Club in Vermont, and backpacked and kayaked with Outward Bound in the North Cascade Mountains of Washington.

Brittany L. Henthorn

Brittany is studying management information systems in the College of Business. She is also pursing a certificate in Italian studies and is working toward her Teaching English as a Foreign Language certification. She is the president of the Jitterbug Club, a founding member of the Cultural Italian American Organization (CIAO), and is also active in Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. She serves as both a teaching assistant in the College of Business and a conversation partner for the Ohio Program of Intensive English.

Brittany is studying abroad in Italy (Florence) during fall quarter 2008. She completed her volunteer experience in Tulsk, Ireland, where she worked on various archeological digs with the Medieval Rural Settlement Project. She also interned for Diagnostic Hybrids, Inc., in Athens and went mountaineering in Alaska with Outward Bound.

A civil engineering major in the Russ College of Engineering & Technology, Ben was inducted into Chi Epsilon, a national civil engineering honor society. He serves on the executive board of American Society of Civil Engineers and served as captain of the ASCE’s Steel Bridge Team, who competed at the 2008 ASCE/AISC Steel Bridge Competition. He also completed an internship with AVCON, Inc., in Orlando, Florida, during winter intersession 2007.

Ben spent his business internship working with the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in the Research Experience for Undergraduates, where he performed research and analysis on structural health monitoring of high performance radio astronomy antennas. For study abroad, Ben participated in a Spanish language immersion program at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo in Seville, Spain. He also volunteered as a special education aid in Cartago, Costa Rica, and went mountaineering with Outward Bound in Alaska.

Kendra E. Michel
Asbury Park, New Jersey
2005-06 James E. Daley-Cutler Scholar

Kendra is a biology major who is active in numerous groups on campus including the Minority Association for Premedical Students, Divine Covering, Anointed Ministries, and the AMSA Pre-Medicine Club. In March 2007, she traveled to Mexico with two physicians to provide healthcare to remote villages. She is also an active fundraiser for Ohio University’s Relay for Life.

Kendra completed her volunteer experience with the Residence in Artist Program in Orlando, Florida, where she worked with patients who suffer from depression, loneliness, and anxiety by engaging with them in art and music projects. She also served for a summer as the chief financial intern at Starlex Home Health Services in Mesquite, Texas.

Alisha R. McGuire
Oak Hill, Ohio

Alisha is pursing a double major in finance and management information systems in the College of Business. She is a member of the Financial Management Association and the Association of Information Technology Professionals.

Alisha completed her study abroad experience in Pecs, Hungary, with the Global Competitiveness Program. While there, she participated in six weeks of international business consulting. She also interned with Marathon Oil, volunteered as a daycare counselor at Dayton Christian Clinic Center, and whitewater rafted in Utah with Outward Bound.

Kelsy L. Perry
Athens, Ohio
2005-06 Herbert and Dorothy Adler-Cutler Scholar

Kelsy is working toward bachelor degrees in marketing and French. She has been on the Dean’s List every quarter, and is a Copeland Scholar and Business Fellow. Kelsy was also inducted into Phi Sigma Iota French National Honor Society. She has served on the executive board of the Student Alumni Board and is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity.

Kelsy completed her volunteer experience in Tulsk, Ireland, where she worked on two archeological digs and studied the history and culture of Ireland. She completed her study abroad experience with other College of Business students and professors at Ecole Superieure de Commerce Pau, France, where she spent ten weeks studying various aspects of international business. She also completed a marketing internship with the Southern Ohio Copperheads, a minor league baseball team based in Athens, and a seven-day kayaking excursion with Outward Bound.

Chris has made the Dean’s List every quarter and is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta. An electrical engineering major with a business minor, he is a member of the Engineering Ambassadors, IEEE, and the Snowcats Ski and Snowboard Club.

After his junior year, Chris spent the summer in Australia with “Engineering Tomorrow,” a program through the University of New South Wales. For six weeks, he traveled to five different Australian cities studying new technology that utilizes renewable energy sources. Chris was an electrical engineering intern at Richard L. Bowen and Associates in Shaker Heights, participated in the Volusia County Sea Turtle Restoration Program in Florida, and sea-kayaked in Alaska with Outward Bound.

Erika Swanson
North Ridgeville, Ohio
2005-06 Beth K. Stocker-Cutler Scholar

A Presidential Scholar and a frequent on the Dean’s List, Erika is studying biological sciences in the Honors Tutorial College. Along with being inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, she is the recipient of the 2009 SEA Award and the Rush Elliott Professional Scholarship. She has served as president of the American Medical Student Association’s Pre-Medicine Club, is active in Alpha Phi Omega, a co-educational community service fraternity, and has participated in St. Jude’s Up ‘Til Dawn and Relay for Life.

During her internship as a medical researcher in the Chester Scholars Program at the Cleveland MetroHealth Center, she co-authored a paper on convective warming systems on anesthesia that was published in the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia. She also studied abroad in Odense, Denmark, volunteered at the Mother Theresa’s Home for the Dying and Destitute in Lima, Peru, and sea kayaked in the Bahamas with Outward Bound.

Brittany J. Van Dyke Stubbs
Greenfield, Ohio
2005-06 Wilfred R. Konneker-Cutler Scholar

Brittany is a human resource management major who is a member of the National Scholars Honor Society and is a frequent on the Dean’s List. She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi and the Society for Human Resource Management and has participated in fundraising efforts for Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

For her business experience, Brittany was an account executive for The Campus Special where she sold ad space to numerous businesses in Athens. She also studied at American Intercontinental University in London, volunteered with Central Park Conservancy in New York City, and backpacked and rock climbed with Outward Bound in Maine.

STEPHANIE M. BELTZ
St. Clairsville, Ohio
2005-06 Alan E. and Ruby T. Riedel-Cutler Scholar

Completing her degree in only three years, Stephanie is pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Columbia University in New York. As an undergraduate, she majored in psychology and received a minor in English. A Dean’s List regular, she was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta English honor’s society, Psi Chi psychology honor’s society, Golden Key International honor’s society, and Sigma Alpha Lambda honor’s society. She was a lab research assistant in the Department of Psychology, volunteered at Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare, and volunteered as a model and an actor in the College of Fine Arts. She was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest undergraduate honors organization in the United States.

Stephanie’s business experience took her to Malibu, California, where she was a publicity assistant at d2 Publicity. While there, she corresponded with clients and prospective buyers and advertisers and wrote numerous press releases. She also studied abroad at L’Institut Cathlique de Paris in France, volunteered as a GED and English instructor and tutor at Virginia Beach Adult Learning, and sailed off the Florida Keys with Outward Bound.

STEVEN J. CARLSON
Logan, Ohio
2004-05 Diagnostic Hybrids, Inc.-Cutler Scholar

Steven accepted a position teaching in the science department at Logan High School for the 2008-2009 school year. He plans to pursue a master’s degree at Ohio State while teaching.

A regular on the Dean’s List, he was inducted into both Alpha Lambda Delta and Gold Key Society. He graduated with a major in wildlife biology and a certificate in environmental studies and was named the 2008 Outstanding Student in the wildlife biology program. During his time in Athens, he was active in Young Life, completed an intense 3-year study of ladybugs, was an SI tutor in chemistry, and won three Ohio University Intramural Sports titles in broomball.

For his business experience, Steven interned for Diagnostic Hybrids, Inc., where he cultured various strains of cells with antibodies in order to obtain novel antibodies which were used to indicate the presence of different viruses. He also studied at Stirling University in Scotland, volunteered at a Young Life summer camp in New York, traveled to Peru to research macaws and parrots along the Las Piedras River, and sea-kayaked in Alaska with Outward Bound.

H. PATRICK KARNES
Greenfield, Ohio
2004-05 Wilfred R. Konneker-Cutler Scholar

Patrick is currently employed at Strand Associates, Inc., a multidiscipline civil engineering design firm in Columbus. A civil engineering academic standout in the Russ College of Engineering, Patrick appeared on the Dean’s List every quarter and finished his junior and senior year with the highest GPA in his major. He is a member of Alpha Lambda Freshman Honors Society, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, and Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society. He served as the junior class representative of the American Society of Civil Engineers and as the secretary of the Engineering Ambassadors. In his spare time, Patrick participates in intramural sports.

Patrick was an engineering intern at KZF Design, where he worked on the constriction plans for a 6-lane overpass for the city of Cincinnati. He also studied abroad in Leipzig, Germany, volunteered with 4-H in Highland County, and went whitewater rafting in Utah with Outward Bound.

LAUREN H. LOGAN

Rutland, Ohio
2004-05 Bush-Cutler Scholar

Lauren, who is working toward bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and geological sciences, anticipates graduating next year. She has served as president of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society, Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Society, was an officer in Alpha Lambda Delta, and was inducted into Golden Key International Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi. She has been on the Dean’s List every quarter, was the recipient of the Pepsi Leadership Award in 2007, and was named Outstanding Junior in Electrical Engineering in 2007. On campus, she served as president of Students Teaching About Racism in Society (STARS) and attended the Robe Leadership Institute in 2008.

For her study abroad experience, Lauren was a team leader and global consultant for a printing company as part of the GCP Program in Thessaloniki, Greece. She also served as a business management intern for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in Portsmouth, Ohio, and volunteered as an art camp assistant, docent, and geological programmer at the Exploratorium in Lexington, Kentucky.

COLIN J. MCCRONE
North Olmstead, Ohio
2003-04 Lizabeth and Charles R. Emrick, Jr. – Cutler Scholar

A member of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honors society, Colin graduated with a double major in physics and French and with a minor in mathematics. He completed a thesis with the Honors Tutorial College titled: “Fluctuations in Ideal Bose and Fermi Gases”, which discussed topics in statistical mechanics. On campus, Colin was a member of the Society of Physics Students and Lutheran Campus Ministries. Following a sabbatical year, Colin plans on enrolling in architecture school in fall 2009. 

As part of his French major, Colin studied in Paris and Tours, France, during fall 2008. He also interned at the Cleveland-area architecture firm Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens, worked at the Volunteer Center of Rhode Island in Providence, and rafted in Cataract Canyon in Utah with Outward Bound.

WILLIAM F. WEMER
Shaker Heights, Ohio
2004-05 Jeanette Grasselli Brown–Cutler Scholar

Will is currently attending graduate school at Emerson College in Boston where he is pursing a masters in communication management. A double major in magazine journalism and sociology, Will frequented the Dean’s List and was inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta Sociological Honors Society. He served as a commissioner and treasurer of the Student Senate and was active in Phi Alpha Law Fraternity, ALLY and the Student Activities Commission. He also worked as a tour guide for the Office of Admissions. He was the recipient of the “Outstanding Senior Leader” award at the Department of Campus Life’s annual Leadership Gala, and was named “Senator Emeritus” by the 2007-2008 session of the Ohio University Student Senate.

Will was a production and research intern at This Week with George Stephanopoulos in Washington DC, and traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, for the production of The Iowa Debates. He also studied at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey, volunteered with AFS Intercultural Programs in Baltimore, Maryland, and whitewater rafted with Outward Bound in Utah.

Will served as the editor of this year’s Cutler Scholars yearbook.

JESSICA D. WILSON
Elyria, Ohio
2004-05 Beth K. Stocker-Cutler Scholar

An early childhood education major in the College of Education, Jessica has spent the last four years mentoring and teaching local children as part of her college experience. She is a member of National Association for the Education of Young Children. Jessica is currently hunting for a teaching position in the Cleveland area. In May 2009, Jessica will wed 2007 Hiram College graduate Jerome Sen.

Jessica’s volunteer experience took her to Louisville, Kentucky, where she interned at the Kentucky and West Virginia headquarters of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She also completed an internship fundraising for The Beacon School in Athens and traveled to the Bahamas for her Outward Bound experience.

Kristen graduated with high honors in 2007 from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism with specializations in both history and theater. Following graduation she worked for a year in Columbus, Ohio, as the co-manager of a White Barn Candle Company before continuing her education. In the fall of 2008 she enrolled in the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she will pursue a Master’s degree of Nonprofit Organization. Kristen is employed with Limited Brands in Cleveland. She also served as a Cutler Scholar class agent for the 2007-08 annual giving campaign.

John graduated in 2007 from the Honors Tutorial College with a degree in business administration. He is currently working for Keybanc Capital Markets in Cleveland as an analyst in the company’s rotational program. Through this program, he has also worked in the Utility and Alternative Energy Group for the Institutional Bank and is now with Debt Capital Markets assisting with bond originations. In his free time John volunteers through the Rockport Methodist Church. John also served as a Cutler Scholar class agent for the 2007-08 annual giving campaign.

A photography major with a secondary studio focus in painting and minor in music, Paul graduated with this B.F.A. degree from the College of Fine Arts in June 2008. He plans to spend the summer living and working in Athens. On campus, he was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society and briefly served as a DJ at the student-run radio station, ACRN. He also served as the vice president of the organization “Act Out” on campus.

Meghan graduated in June 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She is attending West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia, as a member of the class of 2012.

Meghan was repeatedly honored on the Dean’s List. On campus, she was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society, the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society and the Beta Beta Beta Biological Science Honor Society (served as secretary in 2007-08). In addition, Meghan was a two-year member of the OU Equestrian Team and she served as the team’s health and safety officer.

Following graduation Abby spent a year working for Diagnostic Hybrids, Inc., (DHI) in Athens as a research technician. She is continuing her studies at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona where she is working on a Master of Landscape Architecture degree. She was recently awarded the Chapman Forestry Award from Cal Poly.

Abby graduated from OU with an environmental and plant biology major and a geography minor. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key International Honors Society, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. Abby appeared on the Dean's List every quarter and was named a University Scholar. In addition, she was a member of the Sustainable Living Organization, a student group dedicated to promoting stewardship of the environment and sustainable use of local resources.

JACLYN L. JONES

Upon graduation from Ohio University, Jackie moved to the Cleveland area where she is currently employed as a consultant for Attevo, Inc., an international business and IT consulting firm. At work she is involved in a multitude of projects ranging from business process management to data governance and supply chain management. In addition to work, Jackie has recently taken-up competitive ballroom dance with a special focus on international Latin dance styles.

Jackie graduated one quarter early with a B.A. in Management and Strategic Leadership and International Business and a minor in Spanish. She was recognized as the Outstanding Graduate in International Business by the Department of Management Systems in the spring of 2007.

STEPHANIE D. KSIONZYK

2003-04 Ann Lee Hancock Konneker-Cutler Scholar

Stephanie currently resides in Gainesville, Florida, and is searching for employment in international development. She hopes to work in the promotion of human rights and the alleviation of poverty in the developing world. Within the next year, she plans to apply to graduate school to obtain a master’s degree in applied anthropology.

Stephanie graduated from OU with an anthropology major and minors in history and political science. She was on the Dean's List every quarter. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Alpha Lambda, College of Arts and Sciences Student Ambassadors, and the Anthropology Club. She was also a member of the Epsilon Iota Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi, a national honor fraternity that focuses on scholarship, leadership and fellowship. (Stephanie was instrumental in establishing this chapter at Ohio University.)

IRINA B. PANOVSKA

Irina is in her second year of studies at Washington University in St. Louis pursuing a Ph.D. in economics. She was awarded the Mr. and Mrs. Spencer T. Olin Fellowship providing full tuition, a living stipend and conference related travel expenses for up to five years. She is a member of the American Economics Association, Omicron Delta Epsilon International Economics Society, and the Econometrics Society.

Irina majored in economics and mathematics and minored in German. In addition to being on the Dean's List every quarter, she was inducted to Phi Beta Kappa her junior year and was awarded the Thomas Wolfe Outstanding GPA award from Phi Beta Kappa. She founded the Ohio University chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, and served as the chapter’s president. She was also a member of Golden Key, the Association for Cultural Exchange, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society.

JENESSA C. PHIPPS

Jenessa, who holds a commercial pilot’s license with instrument and multi-engine ratings, will graduate with her B.S. in aviation at the end of summer 2008. Post graduate plans include a paid aviation internship and future employment as a corporate pilot.

She delayed her graduation from OU one year in order to take advantage of a couple of opportunities to add to her number of flight hours. One opportunity was an internship with Ohio University's Air Transportation Services; the other was the pursuit of her Certified Flight Instructor license so she could teach student pilots.

Emily was married to Matt Carpenter on November 10, 2007, and currently works and resides in Findlay, Ohio. She began a new job in March 2008 working as a relationship manager for The RightThing, a company assisting large companies with their hiring processes. In her free time she volunteers for the youth at her local church.

Emily graduated with a major in family studies and a minor in psychology. While at OU, she frequently appeared on the Dean’s List and was inducted into Golden Key during her junior year. She served as the service chair and vice president of Circle K and was a member of Campus Crusade for Christ. During her sophomore year, Emily served as a conversation partner for the Ohio Program of Intensive English. She also participated in numerous intramural sports, such as dodge ball, softball, broomball, and volleyball.

Carrie began her second year at The University of South Carolina School of Medicine in fall 2008. During her summer intersession she traveled to South Africa to gain hands-on experience working with HIV/Aid patients. Bethany is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in neuroscience at the University of Arizona. She was awarded the Neuroscience Training Grant Pre-doctoral Fellowship from the National Institutes of Health. In 2007, Bethany participated in a research poster presentation at the Society for Neuroscience Conference held in San Diego, California. She was a volunteer for Brain Awareness Week 2008 and participates in Ultimate Frisbee as a city league and a university club B team member.

Bethany graduated from OU with a major in psychology and minors in Greek and biological sciences. Following graduation, Meghan completed a three-month internship with National Geographic before moving to St. Louis, Missouri, where she worked for Science Applications International Corporation. However, having been inspired by the green building movement in St. Louis, Meghan and her boyfriend, Ben Denlinger, decided to relocate to Dayton, Ohio, to pursue careers as catalysts for environmental change in Ohio. Meghan has connected with a past internship provider and is currently employed as the Energy Advisor for Pioneer Electric Cooperative in Piqua, Ohio.

A geography major, Meghan graduated summa cum laude with a Spanish minor and an International Studies of Latin America certificate. While at OU, she was on the Dean’s List every quarter and was affiliated with the Golden Key International Society, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society, for which she received an Outstanding Member award during her sophomore year. Annette is currently attending Case Western Reserve University pursuing a Ph.D. in molecular virology. As a part of her research, she works in the lab of Dr. Eric Arts studying HIV resistance mechanisms. She is also an active member of the Biomedical Graduate Student Organization.

Before beginning graduate school, Annette worked full-time for Diagnostic Hybrids, Inc., (DHI) in its research and development department. She traveled to Besancon, France, on an in vitro toxicology project and assisted in implementing DHI's Life Sciences division. Annette also worked for DHI for one year while a Cutler Scholar and chose to continue working for them in Italy for her study abroad experience.

Annette graduated from OU with bachelor's degrees in both biological sciences and chemistry. She was involved with the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society, Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society (serving as historian), the Pre-vet Club (serving as treasurer), the Golden Key International Honor Society, and the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. Carleen just completed her second year of medical school at the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Last summer she worked at a local hospital in Cameroon, Africa. At Georgetown she serves as the co-chair of the fundraising committee for the HOYA Clinic, the first student driven free clinic to open in the D.C. area. She also volunteers as the coordinator for the IONA Senior Services Meal Delivery Program. Carleen served as a Cutler Scholar class agent for the 2007-08 annual giving campaign.

A psychology major, Carleen graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University. She was on the Dean’s List every quarter and was awarded the Psychology Department’s Outstanding Graduating Senior award. During her junior year, she was one of three undergraduates to receive the Student Enhancement Award, an award that provided the necessary funding for her to complete her honors thesis project on the psychosocial aspects of type 2 diabetes. Her senior year, Carleen presented findings from her thesis at the undergraduate research fair and received first place in psychology.

Carleen was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Psi Chi (the Psychology Honor Society), Golden Key International Honor Society, Circle K, the Psychology Department’s Diabetes and Depression Lab, and the the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. An active volunteer in the Athens community, Carleen spent over three years and 300 hours working with a child diagnosed with autistic tendencies. During her sophomore year, she also served as a community leader in Read Hall, for which she received a Dean of Students Citation.

While at OU, Marielle was named to the Dean’s List and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society. Annie began her second year of medical school this past fall at UC-San Francisco. Over the past summer she conducted clinical research on the negative health outcomes associated with consumption of high-fructose corn syrup. Between graduation and beginning medical school, Annie worked at the Department of Health and Human Services in the Office of Women’s Health in Washington, D.C., focusing on a behavioral change program to prevent obesity in both American Indian and Hispanic girls. She also worked for Fundacion Paniamor in Costa Rica, aiding its efforts to prevent the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children.

A biological sciences major with a Spanish minor in the Honors Tutorial College, Annie is one of the few Ohio University students to be named a Truman Scholar. She also was a finalist for both the Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships and was selected for Phi Beta Kappa. She was awarded an Endocrinology Society Summer Research Fellowship and a Provost Undergraduate Research Fund grant to support her thesis research which focused on studying markers of inflammation in adipose tissue in response to high-fat diets and growth hormone signaling. She presented her findings at the 2006 Endocrine Society Meeting in Boston.

Annie served as both vice president and president of Circle K and as the student representative to the HTC Board of Alumni Visitors. She founded a tutoring program for juvenile male felons in Nelsonville, Ohio, and served as a volunteer and coordinator for the Recreational Therapy program at the local psychiatric hospital. In addition, she was an ESL teacher to Mexican migrant farm workers in Athens.

Elizabeth lives with her husband, Josh, in Columbus, Ohio, where she is starting the fourth year of her Ph.D. program in chemical engineering at The Ohio State University. Having completed all her class requirements, Elizabeth is now concentrating on the research for her thesis and is studying ways to replace platinum hydrogen fuel cell catalysts. She has received a number of awards including a University Fellowship Award for her first year of study at OSU and was named the 2008 Outstanding Graduate for Academic Achievement by the Ohio State Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Professional memberships include the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (vice chair, 2008), the OSU Chemical Engineering Graduate Council (academic officer, 2006-07), The Electrochemical Society, Society of Women Engineers, American Chemical Society, and the American Society for Engineering Education. Elizabeth also served as a Cutler Scholar class agent for the 2007-08 annual giving campaign.

During her four years at Ohio University, Elizabeth was awarded the Robe Leadership Institute Gerald Loehr Leadership Award, the Robe Leadership Institute Senior Leadership Award for Chemical Engineering, the Central Ohio Section of AIChE Student of the Year Award, the Department of Chemical Engineering Outstanding Sophomore Award, and the Chemical Engineering Outstanding Senior Award. In addition, she was also the co-recipient of the Student Enhancement Award for research on producing hydrogen for energy purposes from the ammonia in wastewater.

On campus, she served as both president and treasurer for the Society of Women Engineers, as the communications director and recording secretary for the Russ College of Engineering and Technology Engineering Ambassadors, as corresponding secretary of the Ohio Delta chapter of Tau Beta Pi (the national engineering honor society), and as secretary of Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honorary. Liz is currently in her fourth and final year of optometry school at The Ohio State University. This past summer she traveled to Ecuador for a week to provide eye care and glasses to the country’s underserved population. In addition, she has remained active on campus serving as the vice-president of the professional fraternity Epsilon Psi Epsilon and as treasurer of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.

Liz graduated from Ohio University in three years with a major in biological sciences: pre-optometry. She was named to the Dean's List nearly every quarter and was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. In October 2007, Kacie married her high school sweetheart, Chris Baon. They honeymooned in Hawaii. Chris, a Miami graduate, works in restaurant management and is a manager for a restaurant in Gahanna called Mezzo.

After graduation, Kacie moved to Columbus, Ohio, to work as an assistant allocator in Abercrombie and Fitch’s home office. She is still with Abercrombie and Fitch and has since been promoted to associate allocator.

Kacie graduated with a B.S. in sports industry and a minor in business administration. He spent the summer preparing to take the Ohio Bar Exam in July. While at the UC Law School, Matthew was on the Moot Court Honor Board, which sent him to the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the spring of 2007 to compete in a moot court competition, focusing on constitutional law. Additionally, he was named a semifinalist in the Regent National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition and was a member of the Order of the Barristers.

Matthew graduated from Ohio University summa cum laude with majors in political science and Spanish. Christine graduated from The Ohio State University Medical School on June 5, 2008. She began her residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, in June and will do a preliminary year of internal medicine before beginning a three-year chosen residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Ohio State. While in medical school, Christine was a Claypool Scholarship recipient and won the Ernest W. Johnson Award for Outstanding Performance in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (an award given to only one OSU medical student a year). Christine has helped host question and answer sessions for groups of middle school and high school students who tour the medical school and want to know more about a career in medicine.

As an undergraduate biological sciences major at OU, Christine was named the department’s outstanding graduating senior in 2004. A member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, she regularly appeared on the Dean's List and was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society.

In 2006, Toby earned a master's degree in campaign management at George Washington University where he also won the “best dressed” superlative award. He currently is managing a congressional race in northeast Ohio for U.S. House of Representatives candidate Bill O’Neill. Through his previous job, Toby was heavily involved with the Save Darfur Coalition and helped develop media strategy for the campaign and press coordination for nationwide rally days. In his spare time, Toby is the front man of an Indie rock band, Daddy's Gonna Kill Ralphie, which will be recording its third studio album this year.

Completing his magazine journalism degree from Ohio University in June 2004, Toby received national recognition his junior year when he was named a finalist for the Harry S. Truman Award. At Ohio University, he served for two years as the president of Ohio University College Democrats and worked on several Athens political campaigns; including helping elect the first female student to Athens City Council. During winter quarter of his senior year, Toby interned in Manchester, New Hampshire, for Howard Dean's presidential campaign. He was a founding member of one, an all-inclusive alliance for respect and equality, and was involved in Ohio University Men Against Sexism and InterAct. Toby also served on the Senior Class Council.

Bisera recently graduated from the Hautes Ecole Internationale at the University of Geneva with a master’s degree in international relations. She currently works as the Chief Financial Officer at Popova Kula & Kokino, a company in the wine and spirits industry in the Republic of Macedonia. While in graduate school, Bisera was an intern at the United Nations European headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

As an Ohio University undergraduate, Bisera majored in finance, international business, economics, and pre-law (and minored in French). She graduated at the top of her class of international business majors. Her wide array of honors included the William Day Award for outstanding senior in finance, the Finance Executives International Outstanding Senior in Finance, the Carroll Book Scholarship, and membership in Beta Gamma Sigma National Business Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. Bisera was also named to Ohio University's Dean's List every quarter and was recognized on the National Dean's List. Kim and her husband, Justin, live in North Ridgeville where Kim is a staff writer for the Sun News, covering several cities in Lorain County. In 2006 she received the Best Enterprise Reporting award from the Associated Press. In February 2008, Kim and Justin moved into a new house and in April welcomed their second child, Kathleen Noel Carrasquillo, into the family. Their son, Maddock (Mack), will turn two in January. Kim also served as a Cutler Scholar class agent for the 2007-08 annual giving campaign.

A journalism major at Ohio University, Kim received recognition for academic achievement on the Dean's List and served as community service chair for the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. She was also a member of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and served for two years as an account executive for ImPRessions, an Ohio University student-run public relations firm connected with PRSSA.

In January 2008, Will began a new job as an IT Business Analyst for Boston Capital, a real estate investment company in downtown Boston. A computer engineering major while an undergraduate, Will was on the Dean's List every quarter. He was named to the Robe Leadership Institute his senior year and was 2003's Outstanding Junior in Computer Engineering. Natalie returned to Ohio University in August 2009 as an assistant professor in the Voinovich School for Leadership and Public Affairs. She and her partner, Nigel Daniels, look forward to living in Athens. She was previously a research associate for the Sir Joseph Swan Institute for Energy Research at Newcastle University in Northern England, where she worked on a variety of projects including research in geothermal energy and clean coal technology. She received her Ph.D. in hydrogeochemical engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in North East England, where she studied as a British Marshall Scholar. Natalie was an invited speaker at the 2007 Geological Society of America's annual meeting and has had numerous publications in the field of mine research.

While at Newcastle, Natalie received a Royal Academy of Engineering Early Career Fellowship and a Royal Academy of Engineering International Travel Award (2006, 2007). She was involved with the Newcastle Ultimate Frisbee Club (named most valuable player and service to the club in 2008); was a Newcastle City Women's Ultimate Frisbee Team Finalist, and was a member of the Newcastle University Sirens Netball Team. She competed in the International Women's Beach Ultimate Championships in Italy in 2009 (finished 18th internationally, 4th in UK), and was the UK Beach Ultimate Championship Winners, Aberdeen, in 2009. Other extra curricular activities included Energy and the Environment Theme Leaaer, membership in the Leading Edge Science in School Programme International Mine Water Association, expert environment advisor to Coal India, Ltd, and collaborator with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Madras.

Ashley graduated from Ohio University with a degree in early childhood education. Following graduation in June 2003, Patricia moved to Columbus to work for Meyers Welsh Architecture + Design, pursuing her interest in sustainable building design. She was married in September 2004 to Ryan Scarborough, a graduate of optometry from OSU. Last summer Patricia and Ryan took a trip by car to visit the beautiful landscapes of Alaska. Patricia and Ryan currently reside in Chinle, Arizona, where Ryan is a practicing optometrist on a Navajo reservation. Patricia volunteers on the nearby Hopi reservation with Red Feather Development Group, an organization that creates sustainable solutions to the severe housing crisis within reservation communities. While she admits living on an Indian reservation can be quite challenging, it has been an interesting and rewarding cultural experience. Patricia also works part-time as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the local aquatic center. She was also a Cutler Scholar class agent for the 2007-08 annual giving campaign.

An interior architecture major as an undergraduate, Patricia was on the Dean's List every quarter for four-years. Her activities at Ohio University included being project coordinator for the Sustainable Living Organization, a member of the Design Group, and a leader for OU's Spirit of Kairos. Patricia was also a member of the Ohio University Sailing Team, the Russian Club, and STARS (Students Teaching Against Racism in Society.)

Katie moved from her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2007, and married her fiancé, Jim, last spring. Her experiences with the company have allowed her to grow further as a manager, leader, and strategist and to even take on the role as a brand manager.

As an undergraduate, Katie majored in international business, marketing and finance. She received many recognitions and honors, including the Proctor and Gamble Scholarship Award (four years), Corporate Leadership Fellows (junior and senior years), Margaret Deppen Award for Outstanding Greek Leadership, Ohio Business Fellows, Copeland Scholar, and Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honorary. Beginning in the fall of 2008, Rebecca will be considered a senior teacher at Riverside Preparatory Academy in Oro Grande, California. This position brings on the extra responsibilities of mentoring new and beginning teachers. At Riverside Prep she also serves as the head of the middle/high school yearbook committee. Rebecca completed her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction in August and will begin a second master's program in administration this fall. Active in her church, Rebecca volunteers in the nursery and is the co-leader of youth group ministry.

After graduating from Ohio University in June 2003 with a B.S. in integrated mathematics, Rebecca taught mathematics at Maple Heights Schools in Cleveland, Ohio. In August 2004, she married Tom Dingeldein in Lakeside, Ohio, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. After their marriage, the couple relocated to Victorville, California.

While an undergraduate, Rebecca was consistently named to the Dean’s List and was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honorary and ACCLAIM. She also found time to participate in the Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching, tutor local middle school students, volunteer at WOUB Public Radio, and participate in intramural softball and football teams. A double major in marketing and Spanish, Abbie completed her Bachelor of Business Administration degree at OU in June 2003. Following graduation, she accepted a position as assistant human resources manager with the Parker Hannifin Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has since left this position.

Additionally, she volunteers her free time working on regional political campaigns and also participates in community service projects through the Xenos Christian Fellowship.

She began working for The J.M. Smucker Company in Orrville, Ohio, in 2005 as a corporate training and technical writing consultant. In 2006, Donna was promoted to business process analyst at JMS. Her team manages the specifications for all products produced by JMS and affiliated brands.

Donna is also attending Ashland University pursuing a M.Ed. in educational technology and currently holds a 4.0 g.p.a. In her free time, she enjoys her membership in the Ohio Star Wars Collector’s Club.

As the first product information manager for the Williams-Sonoma brand, Brad leads the coordination, delivery and creation of product information for over 250 stores, catalog and Internet divisions. Brad also served as a Cutler Scholar class agent for the 2007-08 annual giving campaign.

An organizational communication major, Bradley was actively involved in many campus activities and organizations. He was a member of several academic societies including Golden Key National Honor Society and Lambda Pi Eta, and he served as vice president of the National Communication Association Club. Bradley pursued his passion for music by performing with the Ohio University Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and University Singers. He was also a member of the Marietta Symphony and performed on occasion with the Huntington and West Virginia Symphonies. A member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Bradley also received the Klinder Orchestra Performance Award and was recognized academically many times on the Dean’s List.

Rachael has served on the Cutler Scholar Area Review Committee for the Cleveland area and has represented the program by presenting the Stocker award to incoming freshmen at their high school recognition ceremonies.

A chemistry/pre-medicine major, Rachael graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University in June 2002. Emily is currently a senior strategist at Resource Interactive, an interactive marketing and technology company in Columbus, Ohio. As a strategist, Emily leads the initial phase of client engagements, helping to uncover the actionable insights that can shape a consumer’s digital experience. This past year she led the strategy phase of the launch or redesign of web pages such as DSW, The Limited, and The People’s Choice Awards. Emily joined Resource at the beginning of 2006 after completing her master's degree in integrated marketing communications at Northwestern University.

In prior roles, Emily consulted the Express and Victoria’s Secret brands as brand analyst at Limited Brands. As a strategist for Big Red Rooster, Emily’s work took her to Asia where she conducted consumer research with Asian teens in Shanghai, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.

At Ohio University, Emily majored in marketing, with a minor in interpersonal communications. She was actively involved with Corporate Leadership Fellows and Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

A biochemistry major at Ohio University, Tyler completed an internship and research work with Diagnostic Hybrids, Inc., as a Cutler Scholar. While at DHI, Tyler's internship focused on the development of a new Graves Disease assay, which eventually led to a new diagnostic product. He spent a summer working in a virology lab for Medvet Science in Adelaide, Australia, which ultimately led to a career change decision; Tyler elected to remain with DHI after graduation, where he served as a product manager of DHI's thyroid diagnostic products. His array of responsibilities included sales, marketing, technical support, and product development.

After completing his M.B.A. from OU in 2004, Tyler left DHI to pursue other professional interests. He is currently employed by Limited Brands in Columbus, Ohio, and was recently promoted to the position of manager of Financial Planning & Analysis for Bath & Body Works Direct. In this role he is in charge of all financial reporting, budgeting and planning activities for the Bath & Body Works e-commerce website. Tyler also recently assisted in the production of a new Ohio State football season preview magazine called “Buckeye Battle Cry.” The magazine is due out in July 2008 and includes a feature-length article Tyler authored.

Immediately after graduating from Ohio University in June 2001, Amie moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she enrolled in the MMSC Program in Anesthesiology and Patient Monitoring Systems at Emory University. Since passing the board exam for licensing as a physician assistant in anesthesiology in 2003, Amie has been practicing anesthesia at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She married Timothy Schilling in 2005 and maintains active involvement in a number of professional organizations. Currently she is the committee chair of the American Academy of Anesthesiologists, a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and a committee member of the SC Board of Medicine AA Practice Committee.

In June 2005, Allison graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. While in medical school, Allison traveled to San Francisco, Chicago, and New Orleans, representing her school at conferences of the American Medical Association, for which she served as vice-chair of the local AMA chapter. She also served as the only student member of The Ohio State Medical Association's Legislative Task Force and was a founder of the Appalachian Medical Student Society. In July 2007, she began her third and final year of residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Memorial Hospital-Northwestern University in Chicago. She plans to pursue a career in General Pediatrics. Allison is currently a resident physician at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

At Ohio University, Allison was a biological sciences major and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society and Tri-Beta. During her junior year, she was elected to the Golden Key International Honor Society and the Order of Omega Greek Honorary. Allison was also a recipient of the prestigious Barry M. Pete moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in March 2007, where he took the Corporate Credit Department manager position at National City. Previously, Pete was a relationship manager in the Upper Middle Market Division of National City's Corporate Banking Group in Cleveland, Ohio. In his current position, Pete is responsible for the training and development of 12 credit analysts, who in turn work with 17 relationship managers in three lending units, handling roughly $1.8 billion in loan outstanding. He has worked at National City for six years.

After a year of experience in a growth market for the bank, he will either pursue his M.B.A. on a part-time basis at SLU or Washington University in St Louis or full-time at either the University of Chicago, Northwestern, or the University of Texas. He is volunteering with Junior Achievement and helps teach various grades of students about business and economics. He would eventually like to become more involved in teaching business courses at the college level.

Pete earned his bachelor’s degree from OU in finance and international business. He was a Copeland Scholar, a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society, and a High GPAssociate for Lambda Chi Alpha. A member of the Order of Omega Greek Honorary, his campus activities included being the secretary, vice president, fraternal educator, and member of the executive committee for his social fraternity. He was vice president of risk management for the Intra-Fraternity Council, treasurer for Greek Week, and an Ohio Business Fellow.

In May 2004, Heather graduated Order of the Coif from Washington and Lee University law school. While a law student, Heather served as a staff writer on the W&L Law Review and as Lead Articles Editor on the Law Review Board. Her note titled, “Patient Autonomy Versus Hospital Choice: Can Courts, State Legislatures or Congress Require Catholic Hospitals to Provide Emergency Contraceptives to Rape Victims?” was selected for publication. Heather was elected service chair of the Women Law Students Organization. She also was secretary of the Public Interest Students Association. At graduation, Heather was in the top ten percent of her law class and received the National Association of Women Lawyer’s Award. Following graduation from law school, Heather clerked for the honorable Norman K. Moon, a federal district judge in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is currently practicing as an attorney in the New York law firm of Arnold & Porter. On September 10, 2005, Heather married Mark Shiner, a law school classmate, in a ceremony in Lexington, Virginia.

Heather graduated from Ohio University’s Honors Tutorial College with a B.S. in magazine journalism, having made the Dean’s List every quarter. She was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society and had the top grade-point average for a female athlete. In her sophomore and senior years, she was honored for having one of the top the g.p.a.’s in the Greek Community and was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society her junior year. Heather was a member of Sigma Kappa social sorority, Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity, Society of Professional Journalists, and was in-depth editor of The Post.

Johnna and her fiancé, Kevin Weber, were married on June 7, 2008, in Chicago, Illinois. Professionally, she recently received another promotion and is now the National Sales Management Trainer with Cbeyond Communications, a Chicago based technology company specializing in VOIP (voice over internet protocol.)
A public relations major as an undergraduate, Johnna was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. During her junior year, she was inducted into the Order of Omega, the Mortar Board, and the Golden Key International Honor Society. Her campus activities included serving as Recruitment Chair for the Order of Omega, Recording Secretary, New Member Educator for Alpha Omicron Pi, and Recruitment Counselor for the Women's Pan Hellenic Association.

HEATHER BAIRD TOMLINSON

Heather completed her Ph.D. in pharmacology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in April 2007. While at Case Western, she studied the mechanistic basis of HIV-1 evolution. She is currently working at Diagnostic Hybrids, Inc., as the senior manager of Pharmaceutical Products. Heather has been actively involved in launching a new Life Science business unit at Diagnostic Hybrids. She and Adam Tomlinson were married on New Year’s eve in 2006 with Dr. Ping officiating. They reside in Cleveland.

Heather was recently recognized as “30 in their 30’s, a list of the top 30 individuals between ages 27-39 in the State of Ohio who were impacting bioscience. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Aids Taskforce of Greater Cleveland and is a member of the Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club. Heather also served as a Cutler Scholar class agent for the 2007-08 annual giving campaign and represented the program by presenting the Gibby-Cutler Scholar award to Rachel Ackerman during the Willoughby South High School commencement ceremony.

A member of the pilot group of Cutler Scholars, Heather graduated with honors from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry/biochemistry. She was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society, Golden Key, and Mortar Board.

KEVIN J. FRITZ

Kevin and Heather Dankmyer were married on September 2, 2006, in Pittsburgh. They welcomed son Jacob Tyler on July 16, 2008. They currently live in the suburbs north of Pittsburgh and are in the final stages of building a new house in the area. In his spare time, Kevin recently developed a love for running and ran in his first marathon in Cleveland on May 20, 2007.

Kevin finished his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center on June 30, 2007. After graduation, he began working in private practice at Internal Medicine UPMC. (This involves both outpatient clinic visits and care of patients admitted to the hospital.) Kevin earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio, in June of 2004.

Kevin graduated with high honors from Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in pre-medicine/biological sciences. He interned for his community service experience at Case Western Reserve University and served as a volunteer with CAREPLAN, where he taught youngsters environmental lessons. As a prospective doctor, he spent his business management internship working with the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. His study abroad experience was in England.

CARY B. BISHOP

Cary currently works as an attorney for the Champaign County Child Support Enforcement Agency in Urbana, Ohio. He and Lorie Beth Smallwood were married on June 1, 2002, and reside in Springfield.

While an undergraduate, Cary worked as a resident assistant for the Ohio University Department of Residence Life. The summer before his junior year, he interned with Plastic Card Systems in Marlboro, Massachusetts, where he tested and reviewed software and hardware systems. During his junior year, Cary spent two quarters in Japan at Chubu University studying Japanese language, culture and history. As a senior, Cary was an administrative intern for the Chillicothe office of the Ohio Department of Development.

After college, Cary enrolled at The Ohio State University School of Law. While at law school, he did research on election reform law, assisted in criminal defense casework, and worked for several months as a legislation reviewer for the chair of the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Scott Oelslager. He has also been active in public service opportunities such as Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. He passed the Ohio Bar examination and was sworn in as a member of the Ohio Bar on May 10, 2004.

In addition to his law school activities, Cary interned for Vice President Gore for six months as a schedule and advance coordinator. He participated in the 2000 presidential campaign and assembled a motorcade for the Vice President's July 4, 2002, visit to Pittsburgh.

ALANNA E. BEATTY EIKENBERRY

After graduation Alanna moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, to teach in the Knox County School system. She also completed her master's degree in reading education through Ohio University's Elementary Teaching Fellows program. After teaching for seven years at Karns Elementary School, Alanna took a new position during the 2006-2007 school year as a literacy coach for Knox County Schools at Carter Elementary and Ritta Elementary. As a coach, she works with students to help improve their reading/language skills. She also works with teachers and administrators to plan, teach and facilitate the Knox County reading/language arts curriculum.

Alanna is married to Thomas Eikenberry, who earned both a law degree and an M.B.A. at the University of Tennessee. In 2005, Alanna and Tom became the proud parents of Max Eikenberry. Their second child, Anna, joined the family in 2007.

A junior when the program began in 1996, Alanna participated in the weekly colloquia and the study abroad experience. An elementary education major, she traveled to New Zealand for her student teaching. There, she made many friends and received high praise from her colleagues at the Spreydon Primary School in Christchurch. She recently returned to New Zealand to visit friends and colleagues from Spreydon School.

MARCIE E. BARBER PHARES

Marcie married Robert Phares on July 12, 2003, in Sidney, Ohio, and they honeymooned in Kauai, Hawaii. They have since carried out missionary work in Vincente Guerrero, Mexico, at a mission/orphanage called Foundation for His Ministry (FFHM.) Marcie and Robert are currently in Los Angeles, California, living out their dreams. As a volunteer service they spend every Sunday working with homeless children in Hollywood through a program called Stand Up for Kids.

Sadly, Marcie’s mother, Bonnie, passed away in March 2008. Her spirit and love for children continues to be an inspiration to Marcie. Recently Marcie began teaching preschool and is preparing her students for kindergarten through social skills development and hands-on learning activities. Robert is in the acting/filmmaking business and has been featured on TLC, the History Channel, ABC and FOX, as well as others. He recently ran the Honolulu Marathon. They also continue to build their own I-Commerce business.

Marcie graduated from Ohio University summa cum laude with a degree in elementary education. Following graduation, she taught in California at the H. H. George Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School. She went to the University of California at Berkeley for continued training in Science Education for Public Understanding Program (SEPUP) and later performed field-testing for the program in the Chicago area. 

From August 1999 to February 2005, Marcie taught fifth to eighth grade inner-city youth, with a focus on science, at the Dvorak Math Science Technology Academy. While there, she was part of a group of teacher leaders participating in a program called SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) that helped counsel and teach problem-solving strategies to at-risk youth through the University of Illinois-Chicago.
