Individual students cannot apply for the Cutler Scholars Program; potential scholars must be nominated by personnel at eligible secondary schools, by colleges of Ohio University, or by an organization with which they have a connection (e.g., an organization for which their parents work).

Students selected for the program are evaluated against rigorous standards and must excel both inside and outside the classroom. In addition to an excellent scholastic record, a student also must show evidence of personal integrity, a breadth of involvement and achievement, and physical stamina, as well as the demonstrated ability to lead and encourage others.

Nomination forms will only be accepted from students nominated by high schools where awards are being filled for the 2010-2011 academic year.  The open awards and eligible high schools are:  Leona and Lewis Hughes (Oak Hill High School); Dr. James H. and Nellie Rowley Jewell (Eastern, Meigs, Southern, and Vinton High Schools); Dr. Wilfred R. Konneker (McClain High School); J. Warren McClure/Stephen H. Fuller (Athens High School); Ruby Tignor and Alan E. Riedel (Newark High School); Alan E. and Ruby T. Riedel (Bellaire High School); Beth K. Stocker (Admiral King, Amherst Steele, Avon, Avon Lake, Brookside, Clearview, Columbia, Elyria Catholic, Elyria, Firelands, Keystone, Lake Ridge, Midview, North Ridgeville, Oberlin, Open Door Christian, Southview, and Wellington High Schools.

All nomination materials must be downloaded from this web site. No packets will be mailed or faxed to participating high schools.  High schools must collect all nomination materials and submit only completed packets to the Cutler Scholars office.  Please read the instructions for completing the nomination packet carefully.

The deadline for submitting nomination forms is DECEMBER 1, 2009. All materials should be mailed to: Manasseh Cutler Scholars Program, Ohio University, 201 Trisolini House, Athens, OH  45701.  You may also drop completed application packets off at our office Monday-Friday, between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
