If someone becomes ill or is injured and requires immediate assistance:
- Dial 911, or call the Ohio University Police Department at 740.593.1911
- Provide detailed information on the location of the ill or injured person
- Be reassuring to the victim or witnesses
- If the person has experienced a traumatic injury, has fallen or appears to be in pain, do not attempt to move him or her.
- Unless trained, you should not attempt to render any first aid before assistance arrives.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911, or go to the emergency room of the nearest hospital. In Athens, that is O’Bleness Memorial Hospital at 740.593.5551.
