Greg Emery

Greg Emery has been the Director of the Global Leadership Center since 2000. Dr. Emery holds an MBA (finance concentration) and a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion. He holds Fulbright Senior Specialist status.  He has lectured, done research, and managed student consulting projects in Japan, China, Mexico, Hong Kong, and the Czech Republic.  In addition to serving as an education advisor for the U.S. Embassy in Malaysia, he has supervised projects for various European embassies in Washington, D.C. and for the US Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.  Dr. Emery is currently engaged in a variety of international outreach, development, and leadership projects, including projects done in conjunction with Bangkok University (Thailand), the University of Cambodia (Cambodia), Universidad de Guadalajara (Mexico), the University of Liberia (Liberia, West Africa), Marriott International, the International Red Cross, and the State of Ohio's Department of Development. He has also made presentations at such international conferences as the Asia Economic Forum and the International Leadership Association. Finally, and as the GLC is an affiliate of Harvard University's Pluralism Project, he runs the annual GLC project devoted to
documenting leadership issues in a nearby Hindu community.

Dr. Larry Burmeister joins the Global Leadership Center as a Faculty Fellow.  He comes to Ohio University from the University of Kentucky, where he was a faculty member in the Departments of Sociology and Community and Leadership Development for 23 years.  His international experience includes two Fulbright teaching/research awards in South Korea, faculty advisor for the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture's French Agricultural Study Tour, and recently a visiting professorship in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Tokyo during the 2006-07 academic year.  He was selected as the American Sociological Association's Congressional Fellow in 2001, working on the staff of Senator Kent Conrad.  Current research interests include agricultural restructuring and rural development initiatives in East Asia in response to ongoing globalization trends, economic strategies to reinvigorate mid-size farms in the US, and the emergence of local agrifood system movements in the US and their efforts to influence national agricultural/rural development policies.  He holds a joint appointment as Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. 


Pang

Dr. Pang Pichayalak Pichayakul has been with the GLC since Fall 2005. She is now working on her second PhD.-Individual Interdisciplinary Program which consists of three areas: Communications, Telecommunication, and Southeast Asian Studies. She has earned a Bachelor Degree of Economics from Chiang Mai University,Thailand, an MBA from Eastern Michigan University, USA and a Doctor of Philosophy in Management from Adamson University, Philippines. Besides her academic work, she has spent her time in exploring the beauty of cultural differences; she has traveled around Asia, North America, Europe, and, Australia. Her interests are business, tourism, and culture.




                                               Sam

Samuel Wai Johnson is from Liberia. He is pursuing a graduate degree in International Development with a concentration in Economic Policy in the Center for International Studies at Ohio University. Sam received his undergraduate degree in Economics with a minor in Demography from the University of Liberia and a Certificate in Peace building from the West Africa Peace building Institute in Ghana. Before entering Ohio University, Sam worked as a journalist, a junior officer for UNICEF Liberia Office and a teaching assistant in the Department of Economics at the University of Liberia. As a journalist, he worked with various media organizations in Liberia, including the USAID funded STAR radio and the radio station of the Catholic Church, Radio Veritas. He has held leadership positions in the Press Union of Liberia, the umbrella organization for journalists working in Liberia.

Ryan Bobst is pursuing a Master's degree in Education: College Student Personnel with a concentration in International Higher Education. Ryan received his Bachelor's degree in International Affairs and German from Muskingum College in 2007. During his undergraduate degree, Ryan studied in Passau, Germany at the Universität Passau. At Ohio University, Ryan is the Graduate Advisor for the International Student Union and works in the Office of International Student & Faculty Services. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys music, international travel, and skiing.

Gayle McKerrow

Gayle McKerrow, Assistant to the Director, has been with the GLC since it began. Her experience includes eighteen years as a paralegal/abstracter in Orono, Maine, prior to moving to Athens. She obtained a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Maine, and has traveled in Italy, Hong Kong, Ireland, Denmark, and Thailand.






Vanessa Vetula is a junior Media Arts and Studies major in the Scripps College of Communications. This is her second year as a program assistant for the GLC. She plans to pursue a career in sports management. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her friends and family.

Jenna Soza is a sophomore Health Communications major with a concentration in Health and Public Relations. This is her first year as a program assistant for the Global Leadership Center.  She is from Cleveland, OH and in her spare time she likes to go out with her friends and spend time with her family.

Andrew Bader is a junior double majoring in Music Production in the school of Media Arts and Studies and in MIS in the College of Business. He is the Computer Technician for the GLC. He enjoys playing guitar and writing music, throwing the frisbee, and having fun with friends. This is Andrew's first year working with the GLC.
