About SafeZone Since homophobia and limited understanding negatively impacts LGBT individuals, efforts to make the LGBT population feel welcome in any environment are needed. The OHIO SafeZone project identifies a growing network of students, faculty, staff and community members who are willing and prepared to provide support and information to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning people.

SafeZone members undergo a 2 hour training workshop and get an OHIO SafeZone card to display. The SafeZone card is symbolic of one’s willingness and commitment to provide an atmosphere of acceptance and assistance. Members serve as an ally, friend, and referral agent. If you are an LGBT supporter it is time to act. Become a member! Registration and dates are listed below. SafeZone Road Show If you can not attend one of our scheduled workshops, perhaps you can arrange for us to come to your Ohio University group or office. Contact Mickey Hart to schedule a workshop today (740-593-0239). You need to have 8 or more people for this option. (Remember, the SafeZone Project is a voluntary effort, so it cannot be mandatory for people to attend.) We try to honor all requests; however we rely on volunteer facilitators for these workshops. We appreciate requests 3 weeks in advance of your preferred date. We will not consider requests with a week or less notice.
SafeZone Registration Register by completing ALL sections of the form below. Please give some thought to the questions as some of the content covered or emphasized in each workshop will be based on your responses. We ask that you complete your own registration.
