Ohio University's Marching 110 received a state proclamation on Tuesday at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus in recognition of its upcoming New Year's Day appearance in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif.
State Sen. Jimmy Stewart, who represents Athens, presented the proclamation to Marching 110 director Richard Suk and senior band members Andy Langlais and Darryl Baker. Senate also presented proclamations to the Ohio State School for the Blind and Pickerington Central High School bands, the other two Ohio bands that will play in the Rose Parade on Jan. 1.
"Going to the Ohio Statehouse to receive the proclamation was great," Langlais said. "To be able to see the legislative process and meet members of the other two Ohio bands playing in the Rose Parade was very cool. I'm really excited and looking forward to the trip."
In September, Rose Parade President-Elect Sally M. Bixby and her husband, Harlan, visited campus to officially invite the band to play during the prestigious parade.
