City moves ahead on intersection project (07/23/2008) Earlier this week, Athens City Council took a major step to improve the dangerous Richland Avenue and Ohio 682 intersection. In a unanimous vote, council appropriated $425,000 to cover partial design and engineering services for a $6.2 million project to construct a roundabout at the intersection and make related improvements.

University receives $29M for improvements (06/25/2008) On Tuesday, Governor Ted Strickland signed the two-year $1.3 billion capital appropriations budget allocating $29.5 million to Ohio University's main and regional campuses. House Bill 562 allots $495 million -- the largest portion of the capital budget -- to Ohio's public universities and community colleges for fiscal years 2009 and 2010.

University gift grows by more than $10 million (06/25/2008) In January, Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis announced an estimated $80 million gift from the estate of the late Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ of Dayton, Ohio. The value of the estate is now known to be in excess of $91.8 million -- $79.1 million in cash and securities in addition to $12.7 million in property. The proceeds will support engineering education and research at Ohio University.
