| How to Obtain Software: University-Owned Machines  -OR- Obtain from Computer Services Center, Room 003B (M-F, 8-5). For more information or questions, e-mail sitelicenses@ohio.edu: - Upgrade Licenses: University-owned machines can be upgraded to the most recent OS. The University has paid for these licenses through June 30, 2008. Starting July 1, 2008, Leopard upgrades and future Mac OS X upgrades will cost $38.40 each. A license is needed for each machine a new OS is installed.
- Media (DVDs): Installation DVDs for the Mac OS cost $15. One set of media can do multiple departmental installs. Media cannot be borrowed.
- A departmental Oracle FMS account number is needed for the media charge.
Faculty & Staff Home-Use
Purchase media (DVDs) from Computer Services Center, Room 003B (M-F, 8-5). Includes: - Upgrade License: For one (1) system owned by the employee or one (1) system whose primary user is an employee.
- Media (DVDs): Installation DVDs for the Mac OS. Each set of media will cost $20.
- Faculty and Staff will need to fill out a home use form.
Students Apple has changed their educational agreements and no longer allow students to purchase through Ohio University's agreement. However, the Office of Informational Technology will be offering "boxed copies" to students. Apple's online student price is $116. The Office of Information Technology will be selling Leopard 10.5 to students for $83 plus sales tax.
