Dear OHIO Students,
Today our hearts once again go out to a campus in distress. All of Ohio University is thinking of our friends and their families at Northern Illinois University. Yesterday’s events there remind us that no place -- even one as special as a tight-knit campus community -- is immune from tragedy.
The safety of everyone at Ohio University is a top priority. Members of the campus are continually improving our readiness for responding to an emergency. I also urge everyone on campus to do what they can to be informed and prepared.
I would like to take this moment to put you in touch with resources and tools that can help you be safer. As we mourn the losses in Illinois, I want to encourage everyone here to join together, as one community, to keep Ohio University a safe and special place.
Sincerely,
Kent J. Smith, Jr., Ph.D. Vice President for Student Affairs smithk1@ohio.edu
