Storage Upgrade Promises Larger Quotas, Better Reliability April 30, 2008 by Sean O'Malley This weekend, OIT staff and engineers from disk array manufacturer EMC will install a massive storage array in the university's data center. Once online, the new array will facilitate expanded quotas, improved system reliability, and the consolidation of individual servers. The work will require outages of a number of major administrative systems beginning at 5:00 pm on May 2 and continuing through noon on May 3. E-mail and Blackboard will remain available throughout the work. Once online, the new storage array will allow OIT to increase user quotas for e-mail and network storage, improve reliability of centralized system backups, and offer disk space to offices and departments who currently must maintain their own shared storage.
