Warranty Service The Office of Information Technology at OHIO is a a factory-authorized repair center for the following brands:
Apple (all products, not just computers)
Dell
Gateway
Hewlett Packard
IBM/Lenovo
If you have a problem with a one of these brands, either in or out of warranty, help is as close as calling the Service Desk at (740) 593-1222 or visiting the Technology Depot, Baker University Center 112.
Comparison Shopping Cheap laptops are everywhere these days. In fact, you probably can drive to the nearest computer superstore right now and find a laptop for less than $500.
Before you buy that bargain basement laptop, keep the following points in mind:
Laptops offered through OHIO University include a 3 year warranty (1 year on battery). Most bargain laptops have a 90 day warranty.
Include state of the art components, including Intel processors, ample RAM, and large hard drives. Most bargain laptops use older processors like Celerons or non-Intel chips and skimp on memory and hard drive space.
Dell, HP, Lenovo laptops also include 3 years of accidental damage protection (Note: Accidental damage protection not available for Apple laptops).
In the unlikely event that you need warranty or accidental damage service, help is right here on campus: The OHIO Service Desk is a certified warranty provider for Apple, Dell, Gateway, HP and Lenovo. You can drop your computer off at the Technology Depot (Baker University Center 112) for repair services.
Apple MacBooks, Dell Desktops/Laptops, HP Desktops, & Lenovo ThinkPads are available for demos during normal business hours in the OIT Technology Depot located in Baker University Center 112.
